You should be reading to your 6 month old 20 minutes a night........

These were the words from my doctor at Carter's 6 month appointment. Now, is it just me, or is that a little excessive? Now I am ALL about reading, but 20 minutes a night to a 6 month old is a little much. Well, tonight I tried the 20 minutes of reading, and let me just tell you, he lasted about 8 before he started wiggling, and trying the eat the book. I guess we'll work up to the 20 minutes. On a positive note, Carter is getting better at eating baby food. He ate peas and applesause (his favorite) pretty well! Also, he is really mastering to "backwards scoot" he backs himself into the wall everytime he is on his tummy. I will get video of it up soon.

Day with Mommy

I had a great day with Carter today. I took the day off to take him to his 6 month doctor's appointment. He had a fun time at the doctor until they gave him 5 shots! He took them very well, only crying while he was getting the actual shot. He weighed 18 lbs 13 oz (75-90%) and was 26 1/2 inches long (50%). He got a perfect bill of health and development. I asked the doctor about him waking up at 4:30 (I have been feeding him thinking he was hungry). She said that at this age, babies go through seperation anxiety, and it often begins at nightime/early morning. They wake up and want mommy! She said for me not to feed him, but go reassure him I am there. She said if not, you can teach them to wake up early! Let me tell you, I will NOT be getting him out of bed unitl 6 am tomorrow! After the doctor we went to meet Kim and Addison for breakfast at Le Peep. It was yummy and Carter loved seeing his future wife. Today Kim and I discovered that Carter and Addie both have dads named Kristopher David! What are the chances? Carter had so much fun at breakfat that he feel asleep at the table! After breakfast, we went to the playgroup that we had been going to this past summer. Once again, Carter loved playing with the babies! It was a great time! He passed out right when we got in the car!! What a fun day!

Here's a sideways video of Carter looking at himself in the mirror. As you can see, he falls at the end!
Carter LOVES the mirror at the doctor's office!
So big!

Happy Fall!

Happy Fall! Yesterday I had a "photo session" with Carter trying to get a good picture for our Thanksgiving card. Well, he wasn't too cooperative because he wanted to eat the leaves. Imagine that! :) So, since I wasn't happy with the pictures I took in our front yard, I took him down to the Frisco City Hall. They had a nice fall set up out front. I got much better results there. He was happy to smile at a little girl there, and I convinced her to stand behind me while I took his picture. Next, I took him to Target to make my cards. After messing with the pitcture machine for 45 minutes, I thought I had the perfect picture and message. Carter and I strolled around Target waiting for the pictures. Well, he was working on only a morning nap, so he wasn't in the best mood. It seemed as if he always wanted what was in my hand that he shouldn't have, not the toys I was handing him. Anyway, we finally made it through the store, minus a paci and one sock. I got the pictures, put Carter in the car, and sat down and looked at the my perfect pcitures. Well, they weren't perfect! I had typed "Carter if thankful for you, not is. Soooooo, I had to go back into Target and beg them to let me redo them (which they nice lady did at no charge). Thank goodness! They are now sent out and done, and I have sighed a big breath of relief. Oh the drama in my life. :) Oh, on a side note, Carter is still not interested in baby food. At Target I bought some baby applesause, thinking he would like it. I tasted it and it was sweet. Well, he spit it straight out. I thought it might be becasue he wasn't hungry, but he gobbled a cracker and some of my mac and cheese right up. I guess we'll keep trying!!

I HATE the time change!

In the days before I was a mommy, I looked forward to "falling back" in November. I loved getting that extra hour of sleep, because everyone knows, I love my sleep! Well, those days of loving the falling back is officially over. It has messed Carter's schedule all up! Last night he passed out around 7:00. Then, around 4:30, I heard him fussing. I quickly went in to put in his paci thinking he would go back to sleep, but NO, he cried and fussed until 5:30 until I finally gave in and got him out of bed. He was bright eyed and ready for the day. I was NOT a happy camper. Hopefully he will get over this. I do not plan on waking up at 5 every morning! I kept him awake until 8 tonight, so I am crossing my fingers for a 6:00 wake-up call, please not 5:00!

Crackers and Hoodies!

I am so excited that the fall weather is here. I like it when it's not too cold, but cool enough to wear cute jackets. I was afraid that Carter was going to grow out of some of his jackets before the cool weather came. Anyway, I has to share some picts of Carter in his hoodie jackets! There are also a few pictures from when we met Erica and the girls at Grapevine Mills for shopping. We ate a Chili's and Carter got to eat his first official crackers. It was funny because I was breaking off these teeny tiny peices for Carter to eat, and my mom was like, "Give him the whole thing". So I reluctantly did. I watched Carter like a hawk. I was so afraid that he was going to choke! I had to take the cracker away when it got too small, and he would start screaming, throwing a fit. Then, the I gave him a new one, he immediatly stopped. Uho-oh, it looks like he is going to have a temper! We had a lot of fun, and left the mall with all the kids, plus a rooster. (inside joke- ha Erica)

Yummy cracker!

Look at him going to town!

Passed out after a day of shopping! It's baby-fed

Happy Half Birthday Carter!

This is my little man waking up on his first half birthday. All day today I have been trying to replay the day of his birth in my head. I don't want to forget any of it, but my how my mind fades over time! He is so precious right now! It's hard to believe that 6 months ago, I was holding beautiful, helpless 7 pound 8 ounce baby in my arms, and in 6 more months I will be chasing a 20 plus pound baby around. I am going to try to treasure the next half of a year! Now, I am going to copy an idea that I saw on Erica's site. So, here are 6 things I love about my 6 month old! 1. He has the best wrinkly nose smile. He flashes it to everyone, everywhere he goes! He is always making the room light up wherever we go!
2. He loves his family. You should see his face light up when he sees his daddy when he comes home from work. He also loves his Uncles, Aunt, puppies, and grandparents. He is very loved!

3. He's a great sleeper. Since he has been born, he has pretty much slept through the night. He also takes great naps, and sometimes lets me rock him to sleep. I love to go in at night and watch him sleeping so peacefully, though he does take after him mom, and moves all over the bed at night.

4. He's become a mama's boy! He reaches for me when he sees meand, and has even started crying when I leave the room. I know at some point this will get old, but for now, it makes me feel special.

5. He is very cuddly. He has started putting his head down on my shoulder, hugging me.

6. He is adorable! He has cute reddish hair that sticks up all over his head! He has pretty, long eyelashes and a cute button nose. He has chubby thighs and a heart metling smile. He is more than I could have dreamed of, and trust me, I dreamed of him for a long time!

For Carter's half birthday we went to lunch with Auntie Jessica at La Madeleine. Carter got to eat bread, and got lots of attention!
Carter and mommy. Don't I look young here! We had just been to the gym I got a piece of cake to celebrate. Carter grabbed the chocolate off the top before I could get a picture!

c yummy!

Since Carter was six months I decided that I should start giving him baby food. I have been really bad about it. It may sound weird, but I just haven't wanted to give up being his main sourse of nourishment. Well, I tried to give him sweet potatoes, but he was no interested AT ALL! Uh-oh, I will have to try again tomorrow!
