Carter's first day of Pre-K

I am so excited about Carter starting Pre-K this year. He has a great teacher and a class full of friends! I am also super excited that I get to take him to school and pick him up every day! This was the first year I was able to take him to school on his first day!

I was late (of course) and as we walked in the fire alarms started going off! A kid had pulled the alarm. The poor teachers were just getting their classes adjusted and had to file them all out, what excitement! I waited with Carter until they were done. The fire trucks had to come and all!
When I picked Carter up he said he had a great day. I asked him his favorite part and he said, "Seeing Ma" awwwww, how sweet. I am so blessed that Carter gets to go to preschool where his grand"ma" is next door and his great aunt is down the hall!

What would you say?

There are times as a parent where Carter asks a question and I feel like he is just not ready for the real answer. Today was one of those days....and it's pretty comical.
Kris had pulled everything out of my cabinet under my sink because we are remodeling (that's a whole other post!) including a box with tampons in it. Carter pulled a tampon out of the box and said, "Daddy, what is this?" Of course Kris said, "Ask Mommy." So I said the first though that went through my head, "It's a paint brush." Later when we were putting the things back under the sink, he said, "Mommy, here's your box of paintbrushes." Ha!

Shower for Sharon and Chase

Baby Chase is going to make his entrance soon, so we threw a little shower for him. Since Sharon is having another boy, she just wanted diapers, so we had a diaper shower!

19 weeks

If I could choose one word to describe Abby now it would be high-maintenance! At this point she demands to be held or looked at all the time. One on my statuses for Facebook the other day was, "Abby is the perfect baby....as long as she's being held." And this is true. People always comment on how good she is, which she is usually being since someone is paying attention to her! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to hold her and talk to her and dote on her, it is just hard to get anything done around the house!
She is still the biggest drooler! I am always feeling in her mouth for a tooth, because I figure with all the drooling and chewing on everything there is bound to be a tooth!
She is still sleeping good and has stopped that getting up and fussing in the night that she was doing last week. She is a little creature of habit and around 7 she gets really grumpy and wants her bath, to be fed and to go to bed. Almost like clockwork, she wakes up at 7:30. I'll take that 12 hours!
Daytime naps still aren't that great. I am on the go so much I think it is a lot my fault, but I can't see it getting much better since Carter starts school next week. It's all okay because she is pretty go with the flow and will nap about anywhere.
She is still having stranger anxiety. It's funny because most of the time she will smile at people, but if someone new tries to hold her, she will cry 90% of the time. Then she will turn it right off when she's back with me!
She is obsessed with her feet and grabs on to them every chance she gets! She still hasn't put them in her mouth, but I am sure that will be happening soon!
This is such a fun (but demanding) age. She sure makes us smile!

Werid

Last week was teacher inservice and for the first time in 10 years I wasn't required to be there and I felt weird. It seemed weird that all of my friends and fellow co-workers were going to all of those first week meetings without me. They were all going out to lunch without me. They were excitedly looking over their class lists and decorating bulletin boards without me. It was just a weird feeling.
I had to go up to the school on Tuesday to finally turn in my key and it was so good to see everyone and when everyone asked me how I was, I told them I felt weird. Makes you feel weird how it all goes on with out you. It's kinda like I would feel when I was absent from school and everything just went on so normal without me. Makes you see how replaceable we all are. I'm not trying to say that I felt irreplaceable, it's just weird to see something you were such a big part of move on without you. The good weird part about this is that I am embarking onto a new job where I feel like I am not replaceable. I know my babies are in good hands with other people, especially my mom, but there is nothing like babies being with their mama. So, once again today, as I look at Facebook an see everyone all dressed up for the first day of school, I am feeling weird, but this is a good thing. I am so excited for my new normal.
